This is just what I was looking for. A practical, gets the job done sling, that is handcrafted out of the best materials. I'm sure this sling will out-live me.Shipping:Super fast. I just selected standard shipping, and got it in 4-5days. It came in, nicely packaged in a bag with-in a bubble wrap protected large rugged envelop. The Sling Itself:-Overall-Impressive. I have leather slings that cost well over $100, that are not this nice. Being someone that owns a $500,000+ gun collection, I strive for quality. In fact, John's low pricing of this sling almost deterred me from buying it. Mentally, I lowered my expectations, and hit the buy button. I figured, it's so cheaply priced that it would not hurt the wallet, if it didn't meet my lowered expectations. Boy was I judgmental. It blew away my expectations. Quite frankly, I don't know why John at DLS lists them for so cheap. Perhaps he's starting up his company and is looking to get the DLS name out there, but that's his business and strategy. All I know is it's quality, and I'm going to buy more of them, even if he doubles the price. The gun I selected this sling for:I bought this sling for rare 870 Police Marine Magnum in factory wood police furniture. It has a very classy look to it. Nickle on walnut always looks great. However, Remington missed the mark on finishing off this special edition with a 1" wide black nylon sling. Seriously? You give this gorgeous gun beautifully marbled walnut, and add a China made (I'm sure) Nylon sling?Either way, I went on a hunt for a fitting quality sling. What I was looking for was: "Simple but high quality". I didn't want the sling to flare out around the shoulder. I didn't want a sling that had padding stitched into it. I didn't want a sling that had designs or a deer head embossed into it etc. I wanted a high quality leather sling, that is practical and is very fitting for this glamorized duty weapon. I wanted a straight forward, handcrafted quality, gets the job done sling, that will out last me. And I found exactly what I was looking for with Detroit Leather Shop.Quality:Well beyond expectations. I've owned a dozen $100-200 leather slings. The biggest eye opener, with these Detroit Leather Shop slings, was the quality and flexibility of the leather. It blew my mind. I don't know what process John uses for breaking in this leather, but I want to learn the secret. My typical $100-200 "Highend" leather slings are stiff as cardboard. I break them in by soaking them olive oil and baking them in the oven at 200deg for 1hr. Then pulling them out to twist the sling to loosen the fibers. My most flexible leather sling after hours of breaking in, doesn't hold a candle to these slings. I'm starting to believe John's making these things out of Jellyfish rather than cow hide...Color:Nice rich redish-brown. I don't know if DLS offers other colors, but the one I ordered would be ideal for mahogany colored stocks. It's close enough to my 870s walnut finish, and both the wood stock & leather sling will darken with use/age before you know it. The colors will look the same. I do have three mahogany finished rifles, that I'll buy this color sling for here soon. One is a Ruger #1, One is a CZ452, One is a 1940s single break-barreled shotgun. Either way, it's close enough for any wood, and I don't know if DLS has a website or offers other colors other than mahogany, such as brown, tan, black etc. I just went with what he had listed on Amazon, and it looks great. Conclusion:If you haven't added this sling to your cart yet, do it now. I know I sound like a sales guy, but I'm rarely impressed by things at this price point. It's pretty clear to see that John has a passion in this trade, and kudos to that. He makes a superb product that everyone can afford. I'll be back to buy some more. Heck, I may see if John's interested in doing a custom sling for a 30K gun of mine for a premium.Long story short: Buy it. If you're not as impressed as I was, you can sell it to me.
